Do you suffer from a herniated disc or bulging disc in your back or neck?
You can get relief from severe back and neck pain without surgery, through the NDS (No Disc Surgery) Method™ of treatment, which incorporates spinal decompression. Decompression therapy is a technique used to help heal spinal discs and relieve pain. Spinal Decompression is precise computer controlled tension that gently distracts the specific disc segment to reduce pain caused by:
- Herniated discs
- Bulging discs
- Spinal stenosis
- Degenerative disc disease
- Facet joint syndrome
- Pinched nerves (numbness/tingling/pain) in the arms or legs
- Failed back surgery
Be Confident In Our Hands
Our Wellness Solution chiropractors are highly trained and experienced in both non-surgical disc repair and spinal decompression.
At Wellness Solutions Chiropractic, we use the Triton® DTS Spine Traction System, a computer-controlled traction therapy table, as the basis of our non-surgical disc repair method.
How does spinal decompression therapy work?
Spinal decompression therapy, or non-surgical disc repair, works by relieving the pressure on affected spinal nerves by gradually stretching your spine to increase the disc space between vertebrae (spinal bones). Spinal decompression also stretches ligaments and tendons to increase the range of motion and flexibility.
How does spinal decompression therapy differ from manual traction?
Unlike manual traction methods that can accidentally injure patients by moving the discs incorrectly, the Triton® DTS utilizes a computer to control the variations in traction and eliminate muscle reaction.
What happens during spinal decompression therapy?
As you lay on the table, your vertebrae are slowly separated, alternating between gentle pulling and relaxing. Each manipulation is held for approximately 45 to 60 seconds followed by a 30 second relax interval.
The vacuum formed when the vertebrae are separated acts like a suction to pull the jelly-like center of the disc back inside, reducing the disc bulge. This relieves the pressure on compressed spinal nerves, which are close to the disc.
Expanding the space between discs also restores blood flow to injured and degenerated discs, delivering nutrients and oxygen that enable healing to begin.
Most people tell us that spinal decompression therapy is very relaxing. Some patients even fall asleep during the treatment! Heat is typically applied prior to treatment, while ice is applied afterward.
How many spinal decompression treatments will I need?
While our chiropractors customize your treatment for your particular diagnosis, most patients typically require a series of 20-25 treatments over a 6-7 week period. Each spinal decompression treatment lasts 30-45 minutes.
How effective is spinal decompression therapy?
Patients usually report a dramatic reduction in pain after only a few treatments. In peer-reviewed research studies, between 82-93% of patients had good-to-excellent clinical improvements after the normal course of 20-25 treatments. To speed your recovery, we may also incorporate some spinal stabilization exercises, massage therapy, and core strengthening.
